The preservation and revitalisation of heritage buildings in our community is an important aspect of our responsibility to maintain our cultural and built heritage.
By virtue of the industry we are all so passionate about, we, as architects respect and admire the creative designs of those before us. When we undertake a heritage revitalisation to repurpose a building we look at the existing features so the character and charm of the existing building is enhanced through a modern lense. We look at innovative ways to utilise the space and illuminate features that should be respected and maintained.
Every project presents a different set of challenges that need to be overcome. Through innovative design and contemporary practises we are able to overcome structural, material spatial and environmental issues that are prevalent with heritage buildings. Through respecting the integrity of the building and identifying the future purpose of the space we can create solutions that are a beautiful fusion of the old and the new.
