Corumbene Nursing Home – Assisted Living Units

Corumbene Nursing Home had a requirement for independent living units but with a difference. Six assisted living units were designed for construction in a previously underutilized space under the existing home, offering the residents the ability to access nursing care 24 hours a day, along with other services provided by the Home, whilst retaining their independence. This type of service will become increasingly important for all nursing homes to offer and the ALU concept is the perfect stepping stone for couples who are transitioning from independent living to nursing home needs.

The units were designed to maximise light and views whilst maintaining easy access to both the outdoors and to the home proper.  One unit was specifically designed to meet all the requirements for access to AS1428.1 however all the units look to the current and future needs of the residents.
