In 2022 ARTAS were approached to design the interior spaces of the community centre at the newly constructed Reed Estate Retirement Village in Prospect, Launceston. The project included both interior design and spatial definition, with ARTAS undertaking an in-depth precedent study to determine the types of spaces and facilities to best support resident wellbeing.

Divided into ‘zones’ the community centre facilitates a range of activities to support the active social lives of residents including a; cinema, gym, games room, library, craft room, lounge, kitchen and multipurpose room. Designed to energise and encourage interaction the fit out incorporates a consistent palette of colours and materials, incorporating tones of blue, brown and grey against a light and airy white backdrop.

The materials and furnishings have been selected to be both welcoming and robust – easy to clean but not out of place in any lounge room, creating a space that is both practical and ‘homey.’
