Meercroft Park Redevelopment

The $1.5 million facility received funding and support from all tiers of government, plus Football Tasmania and the Devonport Junior Soccer Association.

With over 900 competitors participating annually in the local junior soccer roster, the facility now offers new change rooms and toilets that are accessible for all abilities, plus a meeting room and canteen facilities that can support regional, state and national sporting events.

The pavilion was designed to achieve the best ‘bang-for-buck’ result with economy of structure, layout and materials primary factors in the concept:

• Structural grid is repetitive and spans allow for regular, off the shelf materials to be utilised;
• Layout and structural design considers future vertical expansion as funding becomes available;
• ‘Residential’ structural design was utilised, opening the opportunity for a much more competitive local tender;
• Materials were selected for their durability, local knowledge and availability
