UTAS & AMC Study Centre

ARTAS were engaged to design a new student study centre within the Australian National Maritime Museum located on the water front of Cockle Bay looking over Barangaroo, Pyrmont NSW for the University of Tasmania and Australian Maritime College. The Study Centre includes flexible learning spaces that accommodate 25-30 students, single person and shared offices, multi-purpose spaces for study and social interaction as well as quiet spaces.

Using our extensive knowledge and understanding of tertiary education and learning environments we designed a place where students and staff could relax while learning and working collaboratively. Using of modular furniture, the users can create and adapt the space to suit each activity. Innovative storage and joinery solutions provides the wow factor within the existing space. The extensive use of timber throughout enabled us to create warm and inviting public areas and the use of colour in the soft furnishings brings vibrancy to the collaborative spaces.
