PROJECTS

Bellerive Oval (Ninja Stadium)

The redevelopment of Bellerive Oval, now known as Ninja Stadium, strengthens Tasmania’s premier cricket and AFL venue while reinforcing its role as a shared community asset. Delivered in partnership with dwp for Cricket Tasmania, the project responds to both elite sporting requirements and the everyday experience of spectators and the local community.

The upgrade increases the stadium’s capacity and capability through a carefully considered series of interventions rather than wholesale replacement. New infrastructure is concentrated on the eastern side of the ground, including a new entry sequence and spectator stand, improving legibility, crowd movement and safety. Existing structures, including the Members Stand, have been retained and upgraded, housing elite training, recovery and rehabilitation facilities that integrate seamlessly with the broader precinct.

A strong emphasis on pedestrian access, public transport connections and safe gathering spaces enhances the stadium’s civic presence and usability beyond major event days. By maximising the reuse of existing structures and integrating new elements with restraint, the redevelopment supports events ranging from local matches to national and international fixtures, while maintaining a strong connection to community sport and place.
