Ashley Youth Detention Centre

Site Redevelopment Stages 1-2

ARTAS were engaged to fully redevelop the Ashley Youth Detention Centre site located near Deloraine in Tasmania’s North. This included the demolition of existing accommodation, construction of two new accommodation wings as well as new administration and juvenile offender eating and common areas. Carried out over 2 stages this project also involved the construction of a new perimeter fence and secure access point.

Education Facility Stage 3

ARTAS were further engaged to undertake a third stage of works at the Ashley Youth Detention Centre site. This involved the removal of an old terrapin that previously housed the school and the construction of a new education facility to enhance the rehabilitation programs offered to students whilst in remand. This stage also included the refurbishment of an existing accommodation building not included in the previous stages.

As the only Juvenile Justice Centre in Tasmania it was crucial that the centre remain operational and secure throughout all construction stages.
