ARTAS were engaged by Masonic Homes to design a major upgrade of their residential aged care facility in Newstead, Launceston. Incorporating a 13 bed wing, two 8 bed winds and two 3 bed wings, the redevelopment provides each new bedroom with its own fully accessible ensuite as well as storage and a kitchenette, improving independence and quality of life for residents.

The development also incorporated a range of common areas, including sitting & sun rooms, dining areas and full sized kitchens as well as landscaped gardens and decks. Finishes were tailored to each function, creating warm, inviting and familiar environments for residents while also being robust to reduce operational maintenance.

Completed in late 2016, the development increased the number of beds on site from 86 to 102, allowing Masonic Homes to continue to care for an aging population in a contemporary, secure and friendly environment.
